Full GT1 race at Hockenheim with the panoz was the best simracing experience I've ever had. Some dry some wet some serious thinking about strategy while trying to keep a very eager Nissan at bay. It's great to see more improvement are on the way but already at this point AMS2 is by far the best racing simulator ever.

The Panoz Esperante GTR-1 seems like an excellent choice for beginners, being slightly easier to drive and more predictable than the other models.

It has a quite neutral balance in general but also in longer corners it needs a lot of patience before getting back on power, bit too early on throttle and it will run wide easily. Bit of a point and shoot type of car

The update is pretty good, but...

I don't see much point in restricting pit exits and qualifying laps.

People join the game, crash on the first corner, and then we ban them from practicing, instead of requiring them to complete X clean laps without going off the track or hitting anything. If they can't do that, they're not worthy of participating in a race.

Even so, thanks for the improvements, and I hope there are many more on the way.

Looks like we'll have to make do with the scripts.

    Odd take …
Qualifying is not the time for practice.
These Rules are a setting that host can or can not choose to implement.
It also adds a layer of authenticity to Offline championships as well as Leagues .

AI 120 and playing with traction/braking scalars and AI errors is amazing against AI. Game changing in single player for sure.

Enormous heartfelt gratitude to everyone that has involved themselves with this project, both payroll and community.
Time flies, and before you know it you've clocked up 3000 hours!

Hardly saw my rig for weeks, but had to alot some time when presented with a new build.
Love the new car, the lively AI and had a spin with some longtime favorite combos to see what maybe felt different with the 1.7 physics revisions.

    Very, very impressed.
No other sim engages me in this way..
    Can barely wait for 1.7

You're missing the point of these settings, there are classes that limit the amount of laps during qually, especially F1 has had several formats across the years, there was a 12 lap limited qually, they also had a 1 lap shootout qually.

These settings allow to simulate that, it's not related to practice at all.

Regarding the AI settings, they are really really good. And they race more nicely and realistic now than before. Mad props for introducing the new brake and traction scalers! However it still tends to be a bit sloppy for the funniest reasons xD 20260913132531_1.jpg And the only car left to fill up this legendary class is the Toyota GT One. Hope you can bring it, but if it happens to be tricky with Toyota then do a Milano manoeuvre!
Keep up the great work Reiza!

Very impressed with the new AI so far, even though it's only partially implemented, it's so great to see AI cars actually making proper moves on eachother. They feel far less likely to turn in on you if you make an aggressive move on the inside, too!
Overall just feels more dynamic and believable. Great work!

One thing I still see, and hope will be changed or fixed with the full implementation of these new AI features, is the way that after an AI makes a mistake and understeers wide in a corner, they very suddenly snap back to whatever line they were taking before the mistake. It just looks weird and usually results in some kind of contact if the player or another AI tries to take advantage of the mistake.

Otherwise I have no other major complaints. Great update :)

Edit: The Panoz is also a great addition, wicked fun to drive!

Great update as we're getting spoiled by Reiza elevating standards and work practices regarding consistent high quality updates without big mistakes or messy hotfixes. We get clean updates.

It adds new features polish and further maturity in an already excellent gaming package.

While quickly reacting w my video, I kept noticing the Panoz was actually a bit easier to drive than what you would expect from some of the other GT1 cars out of the box.

But the stability comes from how the car itself is designed, with the front engine making corner entry and kerbs a bit more stable, there is some expected fishtailing if you push it since there is less weight on the back axis when the engine generates more power.
But it's naturally aspirated no turbo lag and w throttle application the car really behaves exactly as I was expecting it as soon as I saw it announced.

10/10 default setup at Road Atlanta 2005 was very stable and driveable, can recommend for anyone trying out the GT1 class for the first time.

AI was noticeably improved, the wet vs dry lines were noticeably improved, I was genuinely scared of going off the dry line into the wet to do an overtake, during light rain on slicks, trying to keep them warm.

Even after weather clears, the track is damp some sections did accumulate water and you really need to take into account track evolution, making the racing feel more alive, more dynamic just line in real life... track is alive and not a static object.

Just a small concern: choosing just 20 or 30 cars never mixed the Panoz in the GT1 grid, I had to go for 48 cars in order to get Panoz. Max aggression AI is pretty clean, many ppl complained and devs really toned down "AI fighting", now some people think AI is too cautious, it's impossible to please everybody. Maybe adding a 5th setting of aggression could be nice for more nuanced tuning.

The new line_skill is a great feature for custom AI XMLs, and it shows now you can achieve a lot more line variation even for a single driver/car for the same settings, making the AI feel even less like bots and more like humans.

Reiza once again, punching above it's weight.

You guys must be on the next class, I've managed to hit the wall exiting the garage and haven't yet reached pit exit.

    * Congrats on the Panoz - drives really nice!!
    * Congrats on clearly extensive development of the a.i. - really nice to have clean side-by-side action through corners and sensible defensive driving from the a.i.
    * TSI Cup's drive a LOT better than before and the tyre scrub/noises are pretty spot on now for street tyres.

Some of the other features will be tested in the Muliplayer on my YT live stream on Tuesday/Thursday.

The Caterham 620R's are not quite right in the latest release, the tyres are weird and you can't "feel" the contact patch. If you could replicate the Super Light but with the power of the 620R (if you have already something else is wrong/going on) I think you would be much "closer" to how it should feel. Weight transfer and giro/g-force is OK if not a little too "wobbly".
I own a 150hp 7-type and the Super Light and Super Sport are quite close now to how it feels IRL.

The patchnotes explicitly name the Caterham as one of the few cars that haven't got any 1.7 revision yet though

I agree. The Superlight has always been the best Caterham in AMS2 in terms of driving feel.
The 620R, on the other hand, has always felt pretty poor in AMS2, despite the tyre updates it received in the past. We’ll have to see whether Physics 1.7 really improves it.
I’ve already made this suggestion before: just give the 620R some of the Superlight DNA.
