So I've been mostly enjoying the update although I've noticed that the controller is a little less usable now in the menus like selecting a car class goes through selecting within a class rather than swapping between classes left to right (when I didn't hit A to confirm selection of a class).. Most of my buttons that formerly worked in replay on controller (like hiding the UI) don't work anymore there.

I haven't tested the new content yet but the new UI is amazing.. it's great to have the various categories pre-configured with the appropriate cars and tracks, now we have a truly universal motorsport simulator! Looking forward to the career mode but there's a lot to enjoy until then..

The full control over viewing the cars in the garage was also a great addition.

Content is great but does anybody know if the cap of 31 cars on a championship is by design or a bug? Seems to only work in single races?

Im sure it’s not by design , if it is then it’s a bad one.

I'm disappointed because there's a major bug in the title of this thread and nobody noticed it...

Some members lamented that Reiza taking so long to bring the update would hurt its popularity. I don't think it was intentional, but the release actually comes out at a great time. In the northern parts of the world, people will have time to check out what we waited for. The "when will it release" mantras kept AMS2 in the spotlight.

And BAM! Renato etal delivered one of the biggest game changer in the sim racing world. All I did was buy their product, but I feel honored to be part of this community.

    Heads up:
We recommended to turn 'Visible cars' in the graphics menu to be 'off' until the MP invisible cars issue has been sorted which is caused by that setting

    v1.6 First Impressions;
    • UI - Nice and clean, smooth in transitions and just makes sense without being too dissimilar from the original. Still needs some TLC, the odd car icon missing, the bigger car icons look odd with their fish lens appearance and the scroll bar is still a bit of a faff to use (better in VR as it's wider though so that's good). Overall a very decent improvement with the addition of Presets a huge bonus.
    • Car handling - The "floaty" feeling has all but gone now, I feel so much more connected to the road especially with slides and snap oversteer. I need to revisit my FFB settings but right now it's certainly another step closer to the king of road feel RF2 (nothing I've raced comes close to be fair but AMS2 is certainly closer).
    • Tires - When first heading onto the track I can really sense the cold tires & brakes, there's a need for a careful transition until they get warmed up and I can clearly feel the difference, I find myself caring more about the tires now than ever before.
    • AI - Improved across the board generally speaking, they still have weird impossible movements that detract from realism somewhat (the first right hander at Le Mans a perfect example) in some rare places, also the annoying "sticking bug/issue" (Official General AI Comments & Discussion Topic) is still prevalent which again hampers realism at times.
Obviously lots of stuff with the AI tweaked, added etc with this update and for the most part it's all very very good and again heading in the right direction, the more natural style mistakes are a very welcomed addition.
    • Performance in VR - Unfortunately this has gone backwards somewhat and possibly to be expected with all the shiny new toys, I've practically given up racing in the night & wet/daytime cloudy skies scenarios on my rig (see sig) as I'd have to lower all settings and SS to low values and that makes the Sim look a bit naff. Clear daylight however is just fine, I'm just about able to run 48 cars at Le Mans in Multi-Class with the race start and random other moments dropping to less than 90fps, but otherwise that remains stable.
Different tracks & cars vary on performance though, the GT3 Gen 2s are very hungry as are tracks like Adelaide & Daytona, both of which could perhaps do with an optimisation pass amongst others. Le Mans has strange dips in performance when alone on track, Brands Hatch the same, it's something that's plagued AMS2 for years now so hopefully gets looked at one day but these issues are minor and by no means game breaking at all.
Overall as ever I'm very impressed with the update, past updates have been largely good ones but this one is looking like a simply brilliant update and I'm looking forward as ever to further tweaks & improvements. :)

Regars VR, particles MEDIUM and ULTRA in settings solve my performance issues. And some cars are really bad optimized, and I need to go LOW or MEDIUM to be nice.

They know folks really just want to hot Lap gt3 at spa so they did you a favor by making your competitors invisible to prevent them from ruining the gt3 experience.

I kid, hopefully this one got tracked down and sorted!

Yeah but we still can't bind menu functions to whatever we want ( our wheels ) a major UX flaw imo

I wouldn't call that a "major" flaw seeing as everyone playing will have a mouse to use, sure it may be a slight inconvenience depending on your Rigs setup, but the number of people wanting to use the Wheel/Buttons to control menu items will be extremely low. Still if I know Reiza the one thing they do brilliantly is listen to feedback, so you never know they may add it one day :)

Maybe I read it wrong but it seemed to me that V1.6 should provide better tire management (tire allocation, use of different compounds by the AI) and a content manager.
    What about it?

AI use of different compounds didn't make it to the 1.6, "presets" are so called "content manager".
