Automobilista 2 V1.6 Development Update - The New Cars

Waiting for the 1.6 update with great anticipation.

Until now I had not registered in the forum but I read it from time to time, and I make an appearance.

If the horizon is jumping up and down, I'm going to be sick within seconds. I like the legacy setting which allows the horizon to be locked, while also allows me to experience banking turns normally. Then I add G-force to give me some movement in the cockpit, but the horizon must remain still to replicate our eyes nature gyroscopic stabilization. (You don't have to make an effort to keep your eyes stable in real life unless you're drunk or have an inner ear infection, and we know how nauseating that is), but in VR this natural stabilization doesn't exist, so the Horizon needs to be somewhat anchored to mimic it.) My opinion of course, I'm not trying to debate it.

 

Motion sickness and nauseas has nothing to do with how good VR is...

 

I am super sensitive to framerate fluctuations on my monitor, but oddly enough in VR i feel zero difference between 72 and 120, so i keep to 72 to save up on performance.

 

Of course have to make exceptions for tracks with steep banking. Then keep camera locked to the car and just filter out all the bumps.

Guess only temporary workaround is to completely disable pitcrew until this gets fixed.

Ah, it's not about that, the crew and stop sign start jittering like crazy in front of you. It's not releated to the camera. You can see it in Renato's video.

On a different note, I think 1.6 has become like the paradox of Achilles and the tortoise. Every time we seem close and are waiting for a development update or video a new one comes out that splits it into 3 further updates. I think we are in some sort of time vortex loop waiting for 1.6 lol.

 

View locked to car, not horizon;

A bit of head moviment, like 25, to simulate natural eye stabilization;

Some G-forces, to feel the car and more eye stabilization: 25 vertical/longitudinal (you have a seating belt) and 50 lateral (you have a neck).

90Hz or more.

I am not getting the bouncing any longer. Have no idea why. I did change rendered frames ahead to 4 (in beta) but no idea if related. I haven’t checked it lately in 1.5.

That would be so great. I thought something similar tomorrow, that I wake up and there is the second part of the video.

It would be best to put the last part together with the routes etc. .

We are forever trapped one day before the release of 1.6.

 

I mean, to be fair:

• They ran in both series (not many do)
• They were always doing it on a limited budget that the LMDh rules were designed for
• The rules were changed quite late in the day when they had already made commitments to North American funding
• They have had a fall out with Iron Lynx at some point, which left them with little time to find a replacement team partner
• It's still very expensive!

To me it's just classic ACO forcing costs up unnecessarily and trying to force manufacturers to jump through their hoops, which they have such a long history of doing.

I'm hoping they stay active in IMSA, put a bit of 2025 budget into car development and look for a new partner team who will help fund a 2026 WEC entry with them. I don't expect that, but fingers crossed.

And, thanks to AMS2, we'll be able to drive, see and hear them in Europe, South America, Canada and Africa anyway
