Before wanting anything more, let 1.6 be release first. He already announce lot of new cars and 3 tracks confirms.

These cars are all the same, except for small visual differences, so I believe it won't be released before June 2025, considering that even the real ones are still in the testing phase. (The Mitsubishi model has not yet been revealed)

I haven't played AMS2 since last May, when I completely dedicated myself to Raceroom (over 400 hours). Last night, after an exciting hour and a half race at Bathurst with my Ferrari 296 GT3, I decided to do a comparison and launched Automobilista 2. I chose Bathurst again, this time with the McLaren 720 GT3, I think. What can I say? It felt like I was in a bumper car at the amusement park. The car slid around corners in an exaggerated way and the feedback on the steering wheel was almost zero. On the bumpy straights, the effect on the steering wheel came first, then you could visually notice the car jumping. The audio was muddy, the shadows jagged, and the graphics, despite being more recent and with better reflections, had colors that seemed more cartoonish than photorealistic, with decidedly rough track details both near the track and in the distance. I did three laps and turned it off and consider that before Raceroom, on ams2 v1.5 I spent about 200 hours! have you ever made comparisons of this type, even with other simulators? Is there such a clear difference for me? Maybe it's something in my settings even if I doubt it, maybe raceroom has a better ffb, maybe the moza R12 is not very optimized but really, after all that time on raceroom, ams2 seemed a little more realistic than any Project cars 3. I hope that 1.6 is clearly better as a driving sensation otherwise raceroom is fine, which from tomorrow, among other things, will allow us to use the dtm 2024 including the lamborghini..:)

    This!

I raced on Interlagos Historic 1976 and LOVED it. Not only for the change in layout, but the change in scenery. The building, hillside signs, etc... the historic layout just slaps.

I did a similar thing back forth from/to iRacing and rf2.
With iRacing, to me, there is no competition in driving feel, even with v1.5.
(I am talking about how dynamic is the car interaction with the road. iRacing is somehow "digital". it becomes an exercise about doing the exact same thing at the exact same time and then just leave it tere. no room for corrections, no room for dynamic modifications of lines, etc.).
With rf2 the driving feel differences is somehow less pronounced, even thouh in rf2 I feel like the whole driving model is more simplified to some extent, especially in the management of slides (both turning in and coming out of a turn).

Sound-wise, iR is king (to me) (until now).
I also have ac, acc and r3e, acc I never liked it. ac is "old" (despite being the grandfather of everything) and raceroom I have not used it since 4 years ago.
I did not like the videos of the update I think it was nicer before...) but I am reading good things...maybe I should re-install it....

It’s funny as I installed raceroom last night again after not using it for over a year and was intrigued by the new update it recently received.
I lasted one lap and turned it off then uninstalled it and went back on LMU.
Im not here to bash other sims it’s just funny how we differ

    Be me
Decide to try a new track and car combo
Pick a god knows where track in the middle of the Amazon jungle
Pick a car built from scrapped WW2 tanks brought by the Germans when they escaped to South America
Be massively off pace, sometimes up to 1 whole second
**** this track and **** this car
    Pick Laguna Seca
    Pick Chevy VSR
    Absolutely DOMINATES the AI
    Feeling smug
    Dopamine hits
And all is good in the world

Historic tracks are THE thing that AMS 2 undeniably has over every other sim. Most sims that have historic tracks only keep it to one era (late 60s early 70s) but AMS 2... you get just about every decade represented from the 70s onwards. Looks wise, they top just about every single mod I see for AC, especially tracks like Barcelona 91 and Bathurst 83.

The fact that they are almost all officially licensed makes it better! Licenced historic tracks on this scale is unprecedented in the modern simracing landscape, it's the best thing AMS 2 brings to the table imho. Infact I dare say it goes beyond AMS 2, it's preservation, keeping these tracks alive in some way for the next generation. I didn't know about Interlagos's original layout before AMS 2, same with Spielberg's as well. It's something I feel tends to get looked over during the whirlwind of hype and content

[QUOTE="Siggi_Stoppschild, post: 311342, member: 52508"I was a little bit disappointed at first to be honest, I hoped for a complete IMSA car field.[/QUOTE]

That would be great. Correct if I'm wrong, but even if AMS2 is the official IMSA sim, Reiza still needs to get licensing rights from each manufacturer.

I can't let this go unchallenged. IMO LMU looks incredible in VR, now this will be controversial for sure - but I think it even looks better than AMS2 heresy I know!
The cars look sharp, the wheels rotate correctly (hello ACC), the lighting looks natural. I find myself totally immersed. Whilst AMS2 renders pretty well, the lighting is always a tad too orange cartoony, over saturated I might not describe this correctly like a visual technician might, then theres the rain and night performance issues. I'm not knocking AMS2 more a case of defending LMU (not sure why as I was always a critic of rF2). What resolution are you using? I'm 4148x3556 per eye and it looks stunning.

Done that with ACC, iracing and RR (though this last one not recently). After a couple of days I switch them off and turn back to AMS2. Even 1.5 is miles better for me.
There is surely an effect from FFB even on the wheelbase being probably better tuned for the sim I use more frequently, but there are also key behaviors and feeling that all those other sims don't give, even knowing that v1.5 has its own issues.
For me it boils down to what we are more triggered by.
RF2/LMU usually last a bit more but the total lack of rear grip even at medium/high speeds on protos after a while wears my patience down. The need for those silly rear suspensions settings and max slip angle TC after a while gets the better of my patience

The issue that happens is that it's still up to each manufacturer to decide whether or not they want their cars in AMS 2. IMSA licence is just for liveries and events, though I do think that may help convince manufacturers, but not as much as one would hope

Depends a lot on the contract between manufacturers and promoters. F1 will require participants to concede the rights to their track, cars, names, liveries for F1 to market licenses (and obviously there will be a corresponding commercial revenues split agreement to go with it).
Other promoters may not have such contractual power which means they can give you the rights to the name of the series but then you need to go knock at the door of each single manufacturer or track owner separately.

Yeah but no. It looks nowhere near as good as AMS2 in VR. The mirrors are borked and the UI doesn't fit properly yet. If you want sharp mirrors you need to increase the Resolution on the UI to insane levels. And it does not perform well, frame rate tanks when you get near the pits. You have to limit it to 12 cars or so for decent performance. I can run max grid on AMS2 around LeMans.

If you are talking about 1.5 btw, there are improvements, significant ones, to the visuals in 1.6. But I can't talk about those.

its subjective & depends very much on your rig setup.
yes the mirrors require a high desktop resolution, but then that impacts viewing the widgets.
however it is early access and VR is still being fleshed out. If i run 20 cars around lemans thats fine for me. whats your opinion on the lighting/colours?
