Underrated layout! I did a race there once in the GT Classics Corvette, so many nuances to lapping it.

I’m using a Pimax crystal and 4090, full settings. But have most of the other HMDs, inc a Varjo Aero. But right now LMU does not look good to me or perform that well. Resolution is not the issue. Feels like it’s downgraded compared to 2D, although I’m not blown away but that either. .. But I’m used to AMS2 , where VR has arguably always been know to be it’s strongest area.

But We should just agree to disagree!

ps I’ve got ACC to look good in VR now better than LMU. I’ve spend a lot of time optimising ACC . It still lacks sharpness at a distance

Same setup as me the. and I agree re ams2 vs lmu. I run lmu on flatscreen atm and do like it a lot but it lacks a lot compared to ams2 ( weather transitions are very abrupt , no decent damage model , mirrors , hud issues - for me it’s not ready yet and it annoys me when people say it’s amazing as this may give the devs the impression that more is not needed, it very much is ).

Any sim will feel weird for a while after so many hours in another.

I have been really enjoying Raceroom as well, and yesterday was going back and forth between them as I was setting up my new R9.

With custom FFB (V6000 Extreme2) they are feeling very similar from a weight and connection perspective, AMS2 however having a lot more road feel (RR track surface is pretty glassy).

While it took more fiddling to dial in, I would prefer AMS2 FFB and feel under braking but RR is obviously superior for edge of grip and far less oversteer which I’m hoping 1.6 addresses.

    Raceroom of course sounds fantastic.

Graphically RR car models look great (certainly the newer ones at least) but most tracks environments pale in comparison and of course lighting / weather in AMS2 is better.

AI, different strengths - I really enjoy both but do really enjoy how RR AI cars actually spin when you make contact.

Colours-wise - I don’t love either so use Reshade on RR and Nvidia Game filter on AMS2 (warmer / desaturated).

Im hoping they will feel more similar after 1.6 and will be simple enough to bounce between - a lot of interesting content in both.

You could always be patient and let Reiza release the blog when it is ready, just as they will release everything else when it is ready and not before. Repeating your impatience doesn't make it come faster. I know you are frustrated with delays, and all of us are to a degree - but most of us can internalise our frustrations rather than constantly posting as if you're being denied a meal. Please, please have more patience for all of our collective sanity.

Exactly - we all notice and appreciate different things and to be honest if you spend significant time in any good sim (pretty much all of them) you start to not see / drive around their quirks.

For my personal taste, I find Raceroom superior to the current version of AMS2. Reiza needs to improve a bit across all areas of the game if they want to stay competitive. Despite that, I’ve been spending my time on AMS2 lately for its immediacy. I love the way the game engine handles the day-night cycle, weather, and seasons.

In what way is RRRE better than an AMS2 for you?

I think RRRE is better at physics, tires, and road feel, but that’s about it. If 1.6 tires/physics are as good as everyone says, I’ll probably never play RRRE again. I am skeptical, but hopeful.

With that said, tires/physics/road feel are my top priorities so I barely play AMS2 at the moment :(

Oh, and RRRE has Raceroom Raceway. such a cool and fun track lol.

I have such fond memories of it. It's the one thing that makes me want to give R3E a try again. Last I knew though, there is a constant problem with it where cars drive under the track. Is that still a thing?

It’s odd because I’ve put a lot of hours into RF2 , ACC , AMS2 and LMU but Raceroom I can’t gel with even though it has a lot of content I like which is a shame.

I watched the video and I don‘t really know what to think, I got to test it for myself but just from the looks of it it seems that the cars are still overrotating at corner exits when throttle is applied.

When I look at this hotlap in the Porsche 992 Cup car, there seems to be some correction needed at corner exits, but not as much as it seems to be in AMS2:

yeah that is disappointing to see honestly. :(

i love AMS2 but that does not exist in ANY other sim and it’s borderline a deal breaker at how irritating it is to constantly correct needless back end slides.

I'd take a caveat here - Mike's shifting down into first for most if not all of the corners - where acceleration would come on 'in lumps' as befits the shortest gear in the box. Therefore I'd expect the rear to slide a bit more because of all of the power wanting to be delivered through the rear wheels in double quick time. Feel free to disagree with me because I'm seeing it as "first gear problems" rather than "slide to win" :)
