Paul Ricard is another track I'm learning to enjoy. I don't like the run-off areas, the blue stripes, the lack of elevation change. But I did a couple of races on ACC and it's an awesome track. Unlike MOUNT PANORAMA... :p:p:p:p:p

Well, I think he's referring to those stutters, which are the least of it, but not when it comes to synchronizing at the start, it synchronizes as it pleases... and then almost every night between 11:30 and 00:00 all the servers go down due to Steam disconnection. Steam says that I should complain to the AMS2 master gunsmith.

I hope you're right, friend. Despite the real race in Detroit being not so good it would be a wonderful addition to this game. But we'll only know when the next dev update comes out. If the tracks DLC is named "IMSA Track Pack Part 1" we'll know there'll be more in the future.

Yeah I would not read too much into that video . I feel the slidiness has largely been addressed from my experience in the beta ( once the tyres warm up ).

I also noticed that often times when he slid the AI ahead of him tended to pull away, especially on the final hairpin

Bathurst is fun until it's no more.

You have a good argument here, I have to admit that. But on the other hand he has TC on 6, which is (for me) a high setting. In my opinion there should be enough power cut off to not let the rears slip.

The GT3‘s will be the first thing I will test once 1.6 is released and I will (of course) make my own impression. But this time I won‘t buy all the new DLCs before testing.

    That's a fair point.

100% agree. IMSA content won’t matter if I can’t tolerate the tire mechanics, so a day one purchase of DLC is now firmly in the maybe category. Bummer!

I’ve already seen “he pushes too hard on corner exit” and “he’s in first gear” and “I wouldn’t read too much into the video”.

Like cmon, the tire slides on exit exactly how AMS2 slides. It’s consistent and safe and annoying. If you’ve played a lot of AMS2, you know what I mean.

I am PRAYING it’s just this specific car but idk, I doubt that.

bah, I’m just frustrated. AMS2 would be my perfect sim without this issue and it’s looking like it will probably never be fixed.

One things for sure.. opinions are exactly that and until I get a copy of v1.6 in my own hands, all other impressions don't mean much to me tbh being as some people think the complete opposite of me atm anyway. This includes Youtube content creators impressions. Hopefully the incessant drip feeding will end and we will get an actual release soon so I can verify for myself.

Raceroom has a very distinctive selection of cars and tracks. Some of the tracks are unavailable anywhere else. I also like the touring cars (WTCC and WTCR) and the DTM before it became, sadly, yet another GT3 series. But it's far from perfect: setting the pedals with my Fanatec gear was a pain in the neck, the AI is much too agressive and the game engine is showing its age: no weather, no night-day transition, things like that mean I don't play it as often as I used to.

This is exactly how I feel after watching that.
I'm the same, ams2 would hands down be my favourite SIM if they sort it.

I will be here on the day of release saying if it's the same.

Like you say, we have to judge for ourselves when we have 1.6 in our hands. In his video I think some of the exit oversteer comes down to his driving style and technique. He doesn't open up the wheel enough on corner exit while applying throttle and he's using 1st gear where most corners should be in 2nd which is going to lose forward momentum and put the car off balance. He also seems to be at least a couple of seconds off pace because of this. Shame we can't have someone that's able to give us a more in depth commentary on the driving feel.

AI looks improved but still very hesitant to commit to passing each other here.

Still, looking forward to giving these new tools a play and seeing how this works with aggression cranked up to 11

Yes, I tried a bit of everything, that too. However, I don't feel the front end when cornering and I don't have the feeling of the weight of the car :(

I would really like to show you guys my hotlap at Long Beach, but sadly beta's still in notformedia for peasants like me.

Let's put it this way, first is not the correct gear for many of the corners Mike uses first for, and good throttle modulation actually gains you time, especially out of the final hairpin. Be aware we don't see Mike's throttle inputs, but his main sim is AC, which has an incorrect and not sensitive enough torque/throttle model. Also, Long Beach and default setup are not really an ideal combination because the track is a far outlier in terms of its corner types and characteristics.

There are instances still where the rear gets a little surprisingly light late on corner exit with this car (and also with other GT3G2's), but Mike's video does paint a somewhat more dire light than I think is representative.

(my lap was around 2 seconds quicker than what he managed, so I didn't exactly drive it slowly)
