As silly as YouTuber Thumbnail face gets, I can’t fault Jimmy Broadbent really, dude makes a living out of simracing and does a lot of good with mental health fundraising and all that. Genuinely curious about his thoughts on 1.6.

    Get the 'DeArrow' browser extension

"DeArrow is a browser extension for crowdsourcing better titles and thumbnails on YouTube. The goal of DeArrow is to make titles accurate and reduce sensationalism."

His thoughts on 1.5 were quite positive from what I've recalled, I'd expect a fairly glowing (albiet probably still fairly respectfully critical) review of 1.6 given how supposedly remarkable this physics update is

That sounds helpful to reduce annoyance, but on the other hand, terrible thumbnails can be a good indicator of who to avoid watching.

Usually, Reiza gives us some days to test new DLC (a nice and honest approach, IMHO).

In my case, 'out of nothing', most of the time is a bottoming out experience (perhaps suspension travel hitting bumpstops?).

I won't expect a sim to be just like the real deal, they just have to look like it (they must be believable).
Since we don't drive these cars IRL, it really doesn't matter that much, we can only expect so much from a sim (given the hardware resources).
I often give the example of the movies with VFX - I know what I see is not reality, but they surely make me forget that for 90 minutes.

Thank you Dicra for your testing and the detailed answer. I drive mostly with my wheel but from time to time I fire up AMS2 on my good ol' steam deck to learn new tracks and I was afraid that 1.6 would render this useless. So thanks for the relieve!
And good job Reiza for the physics improvements that even the small percentage of the playerbase using gamepads can enjoy.

Yeah, precisely why I’m hoping he gets some time with it, possibly this week or next (if the update is released when I think it will). The typical Anti-AMS2 Slidey brigade will be out doing their thing, but a lot of reasonable players will probably hear his thoughts and give it a try.

The bug is the game giving me the default settings pad deadzone in gameplay (which I believe is at 7) despite me setting it to 0 and it appearing as zero in the game settings. I'm very sensitive to that, that bug has driven me nuts several times over the years. With some fiddling you can convince the game that 0 should actually mean 0, but I tend to forget my workarounds after they worked xD

Sounds like a good tool but I fear that nothing will be left after using it...

The same is true for Mabix. I usually dont watch his videos since ist 90% iRacing and ACC (and he is always a little too clickbaity). But he has a massive follower base and is probably the most influential sim racing Youtuber in Germany. So after his first video (which was suprisingly good in my opinion) even colleagues that drive in LMU, iRacing and ACC (but never gave AMS2 a shot) came to me and mentioned "that Sim I always play seems to become really good" and they will give it a try once LFM ist live.
I just hope Reiza will be ready to release1.6 in November - not only for myself ( I dont need it! I dont need it! ... ) but for their own sake since the hypetrain is going strong again and a lot of new players from the whole sim community are NOW ready to jump aboard.

I think that for their interests right now is a very good time to release the update. There are a lot of people unhappy with iRacing, and the Dev Update doesn't show anything exciting for the general public. The problem is that if they let it go on much longer, there will be a certain Assetto Corsa EVO that could eat up a lot of those people who don't know what to play.
When I say right now, I mean this month, not that it has to be TODAY obviously.

    Hello, racers!
Please tell me, do the default car settings require mandatory edits like in ACC or are they quite good? We are not talking about eSports competitions and the need to become the best of the best, we just sometimes scold the physics of the simulator when the reason is in the wrong car settings.

IMO the base setups are pretty good, but a little too understeery for my liking. I can push them hard and have fun

I just don’t get this “They need to release the update or else AC EVO will eat up the playerbase!” narrative. I’m pretty tired of waiting for 1.6 myself, but if ACE is good enough on launch to eat up the user base of AMS2 and all the other sims on the market, you can’t really put the blame on Reiza, KW Studios, ImageSpace Inc etc. there’s always gonna be a newer game.

if anything I think it’s more important to have your FFB absolutely locked in before you fiddle too much with setups. Although yes, default setups tend to be understeery with suspension, but also too heavy on the brakes initially (tune down the brake pressure and open up the brake ducts a bit)

    Hello Egor,
I'm not a very fast racer and I always use the default setups. I only adjust fuel, brake ducts, radiator opening and TC/ABS settings in most cases.
In ACC it's very important to get tyres near 27 psi. That's - at least for me - not so important in AMS 2. You have a wider operational window. Tyres can even get yellow(ish) in the display but still not losing much of their performance.
    But to answer your question:
Actually, you don't have to change anything to get into a race and enjoy the cars. Keep in mind, though, that cars whose tyres are not pre-heated need a couple of laps to show their potential - same goes with engine temperatures.
Hope, I could help a bit.

Maybe I didn't express myself well. But what I wanted to say is that right now there are a lot of people who are in a limbo of disenchantment with ACC and iRacing. They are waiting for a new simulator, a new attractive offer and that is where AMS2 can come in with LFM. I'm not saying that ACEvo is going to eat up the AMS2 fanbase, AMS2 players are going to stay there because they like it or they will try ACEvo like many people. The people I am referring to are those who are unhappy with iRacing and ACC and can't find an alternative simulator to compete in, since many people don't give AMS2 the chance it deserves due to the lack of a competitive system.
In fact, since AMS2 physics seem to be pretty good right now IMHO, the most important release for that uptake would be the addition to LFM, rather than version 1.6 itself. But it's clear that they go hand in hand.

Understandable, I admit I’m going off of some exhaustion seeing a certain sentiment here and on Reddit, YouTube, and other places, so forgive my hastiness.
Ultimately I think the selling point for AMS2 is that it’s going to be the best bang for your buck in simracing, iRacing will always have the robust multiplayer system but at a steep steep price point. I really do hope the LFM deal helps sway some people even if I personally prefer offline play.

Can we not feed new people dislikes when they just point out that AMS2 could benefit of a comparatively empty market right now and that it would be smart to use that market ASAP? There is nothing wrong with that statement.

Agree, but at the same time I don't think that saying "Reiza should release 1.6 soon" is going to help anybody, I mean you and me know they're not slacking off in terms of pushing to release as soon as possible, nevermind other sims on the market currently and sims in the horizon.. it's not like they're waiting for the perfect oportunity to release, it's simply that there are things left to do.
