I just tried Time trial and i am unable to add any ghost car ? The U.i does not respond to any highlighted ghost that i want to add (neither mine or another).

I see it, it’s always great to have tracks that match the cars available in the game. Nothing against the Isle of Man, but I would prefer to have alternative or historical versions of tracks already present in AMS2. A 60s/70s historical version of Azure wouldn’t be bad at all, as well as older versions of Watkins Glen, Sebring, Laguna Seca, Daytona, and so on. These would be original content (not mods) that aren’t available in other sims.

As for modern content, there are very few tracks I’d like to see in the game... mostly because there’s already such a wide selection that I don’t feel the need for brand-new material.

I said some time ago i would love to see every existing track in AMS2 and every historic variant, but really what is the point of having the Isle of Man when you cannot have a RACE there ? If people want to just cruise or hotlap they got Assetto Corsa for it. Whenever i go through the track selection in AMS2 i want something that can support 26 - 48 cars there and have an actual race going on. But my opinion also comes from the fact i never hotlap and do not care about time trials.

Laguna seca before the current first sector was added would be a total blast. Azure for historic reasons but which one ? 70's and 90's versions ? Watkins Glen from 70's would also be amazing.

I have a friend who usually plays GT7, but I convinced him to try AMS2. He really liked it and was quite competitive. Recently, however, he tried the 1.6 update, and now he keeps spinning and can’t find the car’s limits (he barely complete a clean lap on Spa with the 962). He’s frustrated and has lost interest in the sim.

I’m surprised because, I feel much more connected to the car than before. He uses a G923, and I’m wondering if having a DD wheel makes a big difference in feeling the car’s limits.

Sure, the update has significantly changed the physics, but it’s still AMS2, and the handling remains fairly similar. What could he do to regain his feeling for the simulation?

Use a custom FFB file. I have been using the rFuktor 5.0.1.3 for two years now and i never felt more connected to a car and track as i am since i started using that FFB. I am on a T300RS.

I'm sorry but the reality is, most gran turismo and forza players find ams, ac, rfactor, iracing etc. very hard to drive. It's just the reality. AMS2 was almost gt/forza levels before and now it's starting to get realistic.

Sure there are a few exceptions but most of them got used to the simcade driving and can't handle something that requires pinpoint precision.

    Signed by,

a guy whose first racing game experience was gran turismo 2

Firstly we all know that the Isle of Man will never come to AMS2, but I would like to point out that although cars haven't raced there since the 1920s there is no reason why it can't be raced on in a sim where safety isn't an issue. Although I agree it doesn't really fit with what AMS2 is and we have other sims for such things.

A more suitable possibility, although still incredibly unlikely would be the introduction of the Targa Forio, which as never had a official version in a sim. If Reiza could create it and a pack of authentic cars to race on it, it really would be the ultimate tribute to historical motor racing.

Well, Lewis Hamilton didn't start in a Porsche 962 did he?

Pick slower cars and learn to control them.

Yeah, the sim is more demanding now, but at the same time, the cars feel more predictable. With the right settings, they feel also more connected to the road than before.
On the other hand, I tried going back to GT7 the other day, and I couldn’t drive at all. I’m so used to the physics in AMS2 now that I can’t handle GT7’s physics & FFB anymore.

Haha true, group C cars are beasts :p

Yeah, i suggest he tries slower cars first, gotta learn how to walk first before you can run

You forgot the arrogant people at RRE who can only handle their “a real racer told us the simulation is right” phrases. All GT 3-4 drivers.:D
Strange nobody talks about RRE anymore.:p

When you're about to learn something new, frustration is a common feeling. If your friend is mostly interested in having fun, then I wouldn't press it any further. But if there is some patience and interest to learn something new, I suggest that instead of trying different FFB, etc. it would be more fruitful to treat it as if it was a driver having trouble in real life: Put your friend in some cars that are well-suited for teaching driving principles first, before jumping into a Group C car.

Your friend enjoyed 1.5 but is losing control much easier in 1.6. One key difference is that 1.6 is now much more sensitive to abrupt changes to your control input, such as at corner entry where it can be tempting to brake hard, steer quickly, and let go of the brake quickly, all within just a fraction of a second. In 1.5 the car would enter a controllable slide if this happened, but in 1.6 you will likely spin.

I would normally recommend a relatively clinical track with low- to mid-speed corners such as Snetterton 100 for this exercise, but your friend is familiar with Spa, so I'll find an exercise that fits that track.
    1. Learn about the traction circle (i.e. to get some traction for turning you must first sacrifice some of the traction used for braking), weight transfer, and why it's important to use smooth inputs to avoid going over the limit of traction, especially when moving from one stage in the corner to the next:

    2. Put your friend in a Formula Trainer Advanced at Spa. This car is extremely sensitive to weight transfer, has a very wide tolerance for tire slip, and doesn't have confusing factors that your friend's favorite Group C cars have such as heavy downforce, turbo lag, and locking differentials. Drive a dozen laps and focus on feeling how just small changes to input affects the weight transfer, grip, and amount of slip. Notice how you can underdrive the car (no slide), overdrive the car (it will go into a four-wheel-slide), but also find the amount of slide where the car feels "happy" and easy to balance with tiny changes to throttle or brake.
    3. Then switch to the Metalmoro P4 at Spa, which in many ways feels quite similar to the F-Trainer but with two key differences: It has a lot of downforce, so there is less tolerance for slip, and it also has a locking differential, so it will be less willing to oversteer when you go off throttle (e.g. corner entry) and more willing to oversteer on throttle (e.g. corner exit). Unlike the F-Trainer, you will no longer be able to save yourself out of oversteer by applying throttle to shift the weight transfer to the rear, because the locking differential will now cause the rear tires to spin. (It's possible to setup this car with an open diff, though, to make the change from the F-Trainer easier). Drive a dozen laps, and while you'll initially focus on the differences between this car and the F-Trainer, also try to feel the similarities – you should be able to feel the same kind of weight transfer and tire slip also applies here, and the cars are quite similar aside from the downforce and rear diff.
If the exercise was successful, your friend should be able to appreciate the nuances that AMS2 provides to a greater degree than before, and it should be easier to learn how to tame the Porsche 962 at Spa.

Well AMS1 has some excellent cars while also some pretty bad ones IMHO, the F-V12 and the F-Vintage being 2 that are much better in AMS2. The Vintages feel as if they are over ice in AMS1 and the V12 is frankly a pretty bad experience overall, don't like anything about it in AMS1. All my opinion obviously and that's the beauty of having choices in racing games/sims, you drive what you enjoy and have fun with.

Since everyone is giving Santa their wishlist, I'd be really happy to see some more Rallycross content, cars and tracks. Reiza does them so well.

The changes you made to the carcass sidewalls of certain cars in the latest patch, has transformed them, the cars feel so much more weighty when cornering. You should consider doing this to the other cars in the Sim.

    Well then...

Dear Papai Noel, I've been a good boy this year so I'd like the Algarve track (Portimão) under my christmas tree. Don't worry, I'll leave the tree up probably until summer so you'll have time.

    Thank you in advance.
