I live in Canada...I know what snow and ice is and how you can race on it.

We might see snow and ice in AMS 2 some day for ice racing (AMS had this already). But to make modifications to run in regular race cars on regular race tracks in the snow is just a huge waste of time for the devs, but IMO so is racing in severe thunderstorms, dense fog and flood conditions that would never be allowed, either. There are console games for those diversions.

And yet, those are allowed in AMS 2. Maybe part of the point of simracing and what makes it special is being able to diverge from reality thanks to not having to deal with getting badly hurt or destroying a million plus dollar car. And frankly, if goofing off with an unrealistic scenario on occasion is for "console gamers" then 99% of ALL simracers are "console gamers"

    Remember 2016?

No one needs this in a racing game/sim.

I agree entirely. Even though I am a stickler for authentic realism I do occasionally enjoy doing something that just wouldn't be possible in real life.

I would like red flag options when running championships for extreme weather but it really is a very different experience to race in heavy fog or rain and the option to do so should always be left open.

Yes, they are allowed, but cause all sorts of problems and complaints online. I remember my first MP race in AMS 2 way, way back at launch -- the GX390 kart at Otona. I was so excited because I thought I knew the vehicle and the layout well. I was "surprised" (can't repeat the real reaction here in a family-friendly forum) to discover that we were racing in a thunderstorm in the pitch dark.

Whether it was accidental (not paying attention to time, random weather setting) or on purpose, it was the expected waste of time for all involved.

I am not saying it can't be fun to do ridiculous things in a sim like race F-Trucks against rental karts. I am simply pointing out that to do snow and ice properly requires a lot of dev resources that are better spent on things that affect real racing or racing in plausible conditions rather than conditions that are or should be red flagged by officials. It took almost four years to get where we are now, just covering the legal surfaces and weather!!

As long as all "real life" sim racing issues are 100% resolved, then "pretend racing" can be developed, but NOT until.

    Priorities.

No one here thinks snow should take priority. Just that it'd be a fun thing to add, at the very least as a purely cosmetic thing for trackside scenery.

Also Nitrorallycross HAS raced in the snow. So it's certainly not unrealistic when it comes to Rallycross.

Not to mention the time a Porsche 917 did a lap of snow-covered Nordschleife

    Or the Porsche GP Icerace

Often reality is stranger than fiction.

A licensed Nitrocross sim with a full career path is #1 on my wishlist.

Just take a step back to PC2 and enjoy, if you like to.

Not quite that realistic, but once a year (in late December) me and the boys return to PC2 and have our winter wonderland race, always including Nords in the snow. Nothing serious, just a fun race.

I know it might not belong in this thread. But the Caterham Superlight is fantastic to drive, that's exactly how a Caterham should drive.
Please Reiza, adapt all Caterhams with the physics to this car :)

I hope automobilista2 can update always, just like the DCS only sells the dlc.

It must be the bad news if the game stop to update. We still lack thousands of contents.

Or Reiza don’t think there’s a big enough reward to spend hours on it if it’s only for something small, but I don’t think we need to worry about it currently

But thousands of contents are not the small things. we can refer to the Iracing or Raceroom, which becomes the excellent sim game due to the long time updating. If we do the same, I think auromobilista2 has the potential opportunity to become the best one.

A lot here forget Iracing is in a different category than Automobilista , pay per month, every month.

On a different subject, I'm a Canuck also, so enjoy driving sideways in the snow. :p

Oh, and not that anybody cares, but the only race I ever won when Karting, was during heavy rain, on slicks.

    I could not agree more.

I'd rather see the Reiza team spending its time adding the Acura GTP and the Aston Martin and Lexus GT3s to the sim.

I actually also think AMS2 should focus on its core strenghts and deliver on that.

Getting snow, then we need snow tyres, then the complaints come in how the snow physics are not correct...
