personally, I think that's great AI. if you're running at the back, taking, for instance, taking advantage of a FCY to have extra wiggle room at the end of the race with the fuel is super smart.

The thing is, half of the field did it, many in front of me including the leader, I was 10th, and after that I was 4th, to me it looks like the kind of **** Ferrari pulls at F1 and WEC and we joke about :D

1 hour race, 5x time progression, but fuel and tire wear at normal level, GT1 class at Sebring.

Good question, i had to stop to do stuff, didnt finish it yet. But it says that 100l will last 27 laps, on my estimate I need 39 laps to finish the race, so yeah, one pitstop.
Well, I dont remember ever seeing it, someone stoping with a full tank at the start of the race just to splash 5 liters, it was just an observation.

Nobody would do that on a real race. The AI seems to be coded so that some cars pit on a FCY no matter the time, has happened to me a lot. Maybe the programming for the FCY pitstops is separate from the one that was updated and needs some fine tuning as well.

This probably should be in the feature request, but since the rolling start was talked about over here, I will put the idea here. I been thinking that for the rolling start (short and long), if possible, the car should be initially standing and then everyone starts rolling from there. Could take the implementation of the FCY where it tells which car to be behind. I think that will reduce bugs in some way with the current system and also help with the multiplayer rolling start jump scares at the beginning with the short rolling start.

I did it recently with great success in a 75min league race .
In full green race I’d need about 30-40 ltrs at regular stop, but I pitted from top 3 position during lap 2-3 saftey car , which splashed in 12 ltrs in quick time and I only lost a few positions in short pit lane while field hadn’t compressed yet .
With plenty of careful fuel saving and another couple of other safety cars I was able to make it home in p2 without stopping again and only failed to finish p1 down to general pace in dogfight to the line in final 15 mins vs my faster opponent.
But that doesn’t take away from the fact I had P1 track position prior to race to flag through strategy.

If you are in the bottom 20% of positions you would potentially pit for extra fuel. Ive seen it plenty of times in IndyCar.

Same with Nascar, fuel and tires if you are so far in the back.

Well, I stand corrected then, I dont follow oval racing much. Still, in all the WEC or Formula 1 races I have seen I cant recall one where any team decided to pit willingly if there was a safety car in the first 2 laps, the track position lost is just not worth it, even more so in multiclass racing.

Magnificent work by the art department on Spielberg, it looks several steps better than before, much more realistic.

Did my last custom championship race in the Corvette GT3 to ight and the crazy front grip seems to be gone, didn't recall seeing anything about any changes in the latest patch notes, maybe placebo......?

Not entirely sure what they did to it now, but it's quickly become my favorite ride. It also feels way peakier than its class rivals now.

Well, the Indycars pit also in non oval races when at the back.

I couldnt agree less about multiclass racing. There its easy to pass far slower cars. In same class racing you have the trouble of not being able to pass easily. Though, those tend to be in wec at least 6 hour races so early fuel strategy likely wont help you that much.

They dont have refueling in F1 since 2010. But yes, in F1 it used to be ultra difficult to pass before DRS, so pitting for fuel in the first 2 laps had much less incentive.

Speaking about the AI strategy then, do you agree that its not a great move, if they can end the race in one stop, why trow themselves behind everyone just for 5 l of fuel in the second lap?

It being easy to pass doesn't mean it's worth the risk and time loss, with a bunched up field fighting for position. There is simply no strategic advantage to do that in the first few laps in an endurance multiclass race.
