Automobilista 2 July 2020 Development Update
Greetings Everyone! Here we go for another Development Update... And there is a lot to cover!
We are now one month into Automobilista 2´s release and we can´t overstate what a meaningful milestone this has been for Reiza. Those who have been following us will have an idea about the bumps we have had on this road, including a sort of game engine limbo until the opportunity to work with Slightly Mad Studios and use their Madness engine came along.
From the moment we got our hands on this engine in October 2018 until release day in June 2020 there was just 20 months to do everything - learn a new engine, get a grasp on their tools, figuring out new graphics, audio, physics and UI pipelines, develop the skills and hire people to work on stuff we previously had no experience in - and then go about the business of building a game with over 50 tracks and cars!
While the release has been important, we can´t argue it´s been flawless - the game still has rough... -
Automobilista 2 June Development Update - It´s Official Release Time!
Greetings everyone! Slightly early development update this month to bring you all some exciting news!
In last month´s development update we estimated AMS2 to come out of Early Access some time in mid June - as it turned out we ended up stretching that a bit further, but we can finally confirm Automobilista 2 will be officially released at some point tomorrow, June 30th!
Since the last Early Access update we have continued to push hard these last couple of weeks to ensure v1.0 is a big jump from the latest v0.9.7.0, and that I think we have achieved - v1.0 packs a ton of new content, several key developments in all areas of the game, as well as the new championship mode (albeit limited for this first release).
We are happy to say we have also fulfilled the majority of the goals we had set out to achieve during Early Access, and the little bits that are still due should not take much longer. The official release of course does not mean the game is done -... -
Automobilista 2 May 2020 Development Update
Hello everyone! We´ve reached the end of another month in 2020, which of course means it´s time for our monthly development roundup. We have a lot of ground to cover this month so let´s get to it:
Automobilista 2 v1.0 Coming Up in June
The Early Access period ended up stretching a bit from our original estimate of 8 weeks, but AMS2 EA is finally set to wrap with little over 10 weeks as we gear up for official release sometime in mid-June. We´re happy to say that we´re on track to meet all the core targets we outlined for v1.0 release, even if some of the developments haven´t quite made into the game yet.
Car animations are now finally in process of being exported to the game, and expect to have all the most important ones for wipers, drivers and suspension parts include by v1.0 release.... -
Automobilista 2 September 2021 Development Update
Greetings everyone!
Glad to be back to bring you a new Development Update following a short hiatus last month as we took some time to catch our breath. We are already into September which means this Dev Update itself has run a bit late as we had to wait a bit for greenlight on some upcoming bits, so we are taking the opportunity to change things around a bit and name the Update with the upcoming month rather than the one that just ended
With that house-keeping out of the way, let´s get into what is important - here is an overview of what we have been working in recent weeks and what we have coming up next.
Latest Progress
As of the latest build, Real Weather now also include local environment temperatures - gone is the old overly generic built-in lookup tables, in is accurate for any location in the game, currently and for any date going back to January 1st 1979. The game now also packs the data from days... -
Automobilista 2 V1.0.1.0 & Hockenheimring Pack RELEASED - Now updated to v1.0.1.2
Host of the German GP 37 times, the Hockenheimring is one of the tracks with the richest heritage in the world of motorsports. Historically known for its bygone classic layout with long straights through the surrounding forests, the track was reformed for the 2002 German GP, becoming much shorter modern circuit but retaining a high speed, flowing nature perfectly suited for wheel-to-wheel racing with all types of cars.
This pack features 4 distinct versions of this legendary track from 4 different decades - 1977, 1988, 2001 and 2020, along with extra modern layouts (National, Short A & B).
This the first DLC to be released for Automobilista 2, and it is FREE to all current AMS2 owners and for those who purchase AMS2 over the weekend (July 24-25-26 2020) - by July 27th the Hockenheimring Pack will be sold as an independent DLC to AMS2, and also as part of the 2020-2021 Season Pass.
For those who have already purchased the... -
Reiza February 2020 Development Update
So it´s finally there! AMS2 Beta has now been released to Backers as we enter the final month of development before Automobilista 2 is officially release on March 31st - we are very excited to be able to share what we have been working on all this time
In this final stretch we can finally begin sharing a little more not only about what the plans are for release, but also going forward - let´s get to it.
Beta Available - Proceed with Caution!
So the first build of AMS2 Beta has been deployed - always a big satisfaction and relief to reach this milestone.
Although the gameplay, content and general functionality of the Beta builds should be pretty representative of what its release state will be like, the game is very evidently unfinished - there is a lot still to be a lot bolted on over the coming weeks.
With the imminent release of AMS2 Beta we´ve had a huge influx of new people through the AMS2 Early Backing Campaign... -

Official Automobilista 2 website now live!
We finally have our official AMS2 live at www.game-automobilista2.com
Still some bits to be added such as specs and infos for each vehicle in the game, but this should already hopefully be an useful overview of AMS2 for those looking to learn more about it, and a good source of info as to what lays in the road ahead for those already onboard!
New AMS2 Packages Now Available on Steam!
We have launched two extra Steam packages for those interested in Automobilista 2 and / or its DLC:

Automobilista 2 Early Access to be Updated Weekly - Dev Roadmap Overview
Automobilista 2 has been out on Early Access for a little over 2 weeks now, and it seems like a good time to share a bit more about our plans for the remainder of the Early Access period.
We have opted to go all the way in our initial proposal of 8 weeks of Early Access period, and may actually add a couple weeks more before official release in order to try make sure Automobilista 2 reaches v1.0 as well rounded and complete as we possibly can make it in this timeframe.
As ever, we stress that AMS2 is a long term project and development will continue way beyond the official release - v1.0 is all but a development milestone marking the game as "ready for normal consumption", or a reliable base for more serious racing both on and offline that allows users to make the best of the premium content to be added thereafter. That doesn´t mean it will be as complete or as good as it will ever be - we see plenty of room for improvement in every area of the game and... -
Automobilista 2 January 2021 Development Update
Greetings Everyone! Here we are for the first dev update of what promises to be a very exciting year for Automobilista 2.
We have started the year as we left off 2020, with foot hard on the gas and already deploying a couple of substantial updates to bring some important core developments to physics & AI. Along with another batch of general developments, the latest v1.1.1.0 release has also introduced a couple of neat Ginetta G40 variants nicely filling that tin top club racing niche that was still under represented in AMS2.
Even before the update went out, we were already pushing towards some of the steps that will follow in the coming months - let´s take a closer look into those...
2021 Roadmap - Fast, But Steady
As suggested in the last two dev updates, we have been opting to slightly throttle back on our release schedule for new content relative to our original roadmap in these recent updates. We will continue to put... -

Below is the Changelog for v1.3.7 -> v1.4.0:

Automobilista - July Development Update
This month´s dev update is coming out a bit late - we have indeed been running a bit later than planned, and as a result v1.0 release isn´t quite behind us yet as we´d hoped for in our June Development update.
The good news is that the extra time has been put to good use, as even though a couple features have demanded a bit more time than we had anticipated, we have also used it to throw in some extra goodies into the v1.0 mix. Overall we have made some great progress again this month as you´ll hopefully notice as you read through this update, bringing us very close to v1.0 release and also to what´s coming beyond
Here are the main highlights from this past month:
V0.9.8 Release
A couple of weeks back we released AMS EA v0.9.8, which introduced some very nice... -
Automobilista - August Development Update
Hello everyone!
Bit of a last minute update to round up this month of August, which as you can imagine has been a particularly busy one with the release of AMS v1.0. It´s still proving busy in fact as along with usual post-release duties we´ve been working since then on addressing some issues for a hotfix due to be released tomorrow (Sept 2nd). For this reason I´d like to apologise in advance for keeping this update a bit shorter than previous entries. The upside hopefully should be a meatier entry next month
While AMS v1.0 bringing us out of Early Access has been an important milestone, AMS development is far from over. Here are some of the things we can share about what the next few months hold for it:
V1.01 hotfix
Since release last week we´ve identified a few teething issues which we have been since dutifully pursuing - one always tries to be ahead of these but unfortunately a full release is always a bit of a leap into the unknown as we go... -
Automobilista 2 April 2020 Development Update
Greetings everyone! We hope you all have been keeping safe and catching up with your sim racing while we continue to go through these surreal times.
It´s now been a month since Automobilista 2 was released in Steam Early Access, and what a ride it has been up to here! It´s been great to see the game being overall very positively received and that the sim racing community shares our confidence about its future.
Most will not be aware but with both Stock Car Extreme and Automobilista 1 being free updates to those who bought the previous version of the game, Automobilista 2 is actually our first completely new title release since Game Stock Car 2013 back in November 2013! And despite the less than ideal circunstances surrounding all of us these days, we are happy to say the game has got off to a very strong start.
As we have continued to stress since the initial announcement, Automobilista 2 is a long term project but we feel we have now crossed the... -
Automobilista 2 Demo Featuring VW TSI Cup By Acelerados RELEASED!
We are thrilled to release our latest project developed in partnership with Volkswagen Brasil & Acelerados - The Volkswagen TSI Cup by Acelerados introduces the Volkswagen Polo & Virtus for Automobilista 2, and is also a standalone free demo for those who do not yet own the game.
The AMS2 Demo is now available on Steam from the Automobilista 2 Store Page.
Please note the update including these cars to the main game will be released this weekend - for the moment the cars are available only in the demo, which due to how the apps are configured on Steam cannot be installed in parallel to the full game.
The Demo currently features:
- Custom Event / Test Day / Time Trial Game modes
- Volkswagen Polo & Virtus TSI 1.0
- Autódromo Velo Città (3 layouts)
The Acelerados... -
Reiza General Update - Fresh 2019 News!
Hello everyone!
Time to break radio silence again to bring you some fresh news about what´s happening with Reiza and our projects over recent weeks and for the foreseeable future.
Reiza rFactor 2 Bundle - May Update
As previously announced, we´ve continued development of the rF2 content this month focusing primarily on development of the two additional Imola versions - the 1988 and 2001 layouts, which will be added free of charge to all who bought the Imola track or any pack that included it.
Below a couple of WIP previews - now the rF2 Mclarens will have some era-accurate official tracks to stretch their legs on
There´s also been some work done elsewhere in the pack with further polishing and sorting a few remaining issues - more notably we have added the missing wet tire compound for the MCR S2000 and we are working on adding the turbo model to the Metalmoro cars that feature it.
Wiith the... -
Reiza rF2 Bundle - Info, Tips and Development Update
We´ll be using this topic to report on the ongoing development of the rF2 Bundle, as well as relevant info and tips to get the best experience out of it
Although the rF2 engine is in many ways still similar to our AMS engine (and even big differences like tyre modelling have eventually delivered surprisingly similar results on both sims), there are still a number of differences, not just with the physics engine but also configurations and how FFB, audio, controllers are set up which can add up to very different experiences.
The goal has always been to make the transition both from AMS to rF2 as well as from other rF2 cars and tracks relatively seamless, and we´ll point out a few ways to better bridge those gaps.
Since release we´ve also found some ground to cover in order to get closer to that goal and generally improve the quality of the pack. Quite a bit has already been done in the 3 weeks since release - we currently have an update in testing which should hopefully be... -
Automobilista - September Development Update
Greetings folks Here´s our customary review of the work done in Automobilista development over the past month. We´ve been hard at it, both in the development of v1.1 update as well as production of the Brit Pack, both of which are expected for release at some point next week.
V1.1 Development
The major new feature for AMS v1.1 is the inclusion of Radio Spotter as developed by @gongo . This had been a very popular addition to the sim and now with native integration Dan has been able to take it a step further with more info and better accuracy from your race engineer.
Dan has also been doing some work to improve integration with the new Logitech drivers - v1.1 should hopefully see some proper support for their latest G29 / G920 wheels.
On the graphics front, @Alex Sawczuk and @Sandro Kholodkevich have done some great work on new car shaders and materials. Below is a shot of the flashy Ultima GTR... -

Reiza January 2020 Development Update
Hello again folks, here we are for the first development update of 2020!
The year has started for us just like the last one ended - working flatout, with long night after long night testing everyone´s sanity
It has been another incredibly productive month, with further developments made in all fronts from vehicle to track art, Audio, Physics, AI, User Interface - all had one major development or another which is at once very exciting but also stressful as every time there is a breakthrough it demands some amount of rework to re-assemble related parts around it, and there´s so much the schedule will allow until we get to a stable build for release.
The details of what´s going on in all these fronts would be enough to fill two articles and bore many of you to death - the important thing is that we have managed to reach the end of the month just inside our planned milestones so things continue to move decisively towards release at some point late in... -
Automobilista - October 2017 Development Update
Hello everyone!
We have a lot of new good stuff to show you this month The next v1.4.9 update is going to be packed with several valuable developments and new content so that´s what we´ll be covering in this month´s dev update.
New native HUD / TV overlay system
For v1.4.9 @Alex Sawczuk has undertaken a complete revamp of the native HUD system to feature a lot of the valuable information seen in DynHUD & other 3rd party systems along with a brand new TV overlay system, which the added bonus of being fully fed & rendered in-game and neatly arranged into a single overall design.
This should hopefully reduce the needs for DynHUD & other external HUDs (though these will remain as functional alternatives for those who may prefer them).
Below a couple of WIP previews of these new fully native systems:
The new native HUD won´t feature a trackmap in its initial v1.4.9 version but...
