besides staying on the track, how do I keep the laptime invalidated popup from always being in front of me in vr? I edit hud to have nothing above my steering wheel but that thing manages to pop up in my line of sight all the time..
To the best of my knowledge, there is no setting that is able to move the "Laptime invalidated", "Pit lane speed limit" and similar messages out of being right in your face (and at a short focus distance) in VR. The best workaround I've found if you want to get as close to a "no HUD" mode is to use VR playspace manipulation to move the HUD far up. As long as you're using cockpit or helmet cam, you can lift off your VR headset, hold it as high above your head as you can with the headset still facing forward, and press the Center VR Headset button. Then you'll end up viewing from underneath the vehicle when you put the headset back on, but you can compensate by holding the Seat Up button until the camera is where it should be. One of the downsides to this workaround is that not only the "Laptime invalidated" message is moved far up, but all of your UI screens as well, so you'll have to lean back when navigating through the UI.

It sounds to me like you're describing a feature request and not a bug, because being unable to hide the message is missing functionality and not something that was working before but has stopped working. But I suppose if you want to formulate it as a bug you could say something like "When in VR, switching the HUD mode to Off does not remove the Laptime invalidated message" I found a mention of this issue in the backer forum, from during Early Access back in February 2020: https://forum.reizastudios.com/threads/ams2-beta-ui-hud-feedback-reports.8695/page-6#post-50877 …but the backer forum is not public, so it would be great if you could create a feature request and describe what you would like to do: Do you want to be able to reposition the message in VR like you can with the other HUD elements? Do you want to have a true "no HUD" mode? Et cetera.
id like to be able to at least move it to a corner or below my wheel. its a bit infuriating that on top of getting a lap invalidation halfway through green hell, the pop up blocks my view so its a swearing moment haha.
For me it's the short focus distance in VR to that popup that is the biggest problem. We don't yet have VR headsets with varifocal displays, and without that hardware feature it requires extra eye strain to focus on the racing line, switch to focus 1m ahead, then switch back to focus on the racing line.
