Launch in Steam VR mode actually launches in Oculus VR mode

When I first installed AMS2 I ran with Steam VR to use Oculus Link with a Quest 2. This worked fine, and it meant I could use Steam VR's built-in upsampling as well as Open VR FSR.

At some point I tried "Launch in Oculus VR mode" instead. I got better graphics with SteamVR so I tried to switch back.

Now, when I try to run with SteamVR it automatically opens with Oculus instead - when I launch AMS2 it appears in Oculus Home rather than in SteamVR's void. If I run Steam Home, select AMS2 from the wall and click Launch then it will run within SteamVR.

My main question is whether this is an AMS2 setting that has got stuck (in which case, where is it), is it a bug within AMS2, or is it Oculus overreaching and intercepting the VR application?

 

I'm not sure now whether it did run within SteamVR initially...

The solution is to force SteamVR, or disable the Oculus API:

One way of doing this is to install OpenVR Advanced Settings and under the Settings page tick "Force Use SteamVR":



Once this is done, AMS2 will launch within SteamVR rather than use the Oculus runtime. Phew!

 

This isn't working for me... I did install the ADV app as mentioned. After it crashes I can confirming relaunching only gives SteamVR option but still continues to crash...

Any other tips? I did restart...
