    What's new:
    • Renewed front suspension load algorithm
    • Improved (loss of) grip feel (both axles)
    • Revised vertical G-forces effect
    • Revised car rotation feeling
    • Harmonization between car classes through Vehicule-Specific Gain (including mods)
    • Vehicle-specific gain now has a double effect (CAUTION: requires less change to make a bigger difference)
    • Cancelled scrub (canned) effects (those coming from physics engine still there). If needed, change "scrub_scale 0.0" (was 0.8 in v5, 2.0 in v4)
    Still to improve/implement:
    • Effective damping system
    • Introduce (canned) offroad noise (too flat for my tastes)

    Hi fellow simracers,

I have recently downloaded the v500 by @Danielkart for my T818 (10nm) wheelbase and it feels great out of the box. Great job, it's hard to imagine how much time and efforts you have put into all those values and calculations.

One thing I found a bit too heavy for my personal taste was the initial turn in resistance, so I have lowered these values to 1.80 as you suggested on a previous post

    (angle_d_l (* angle_d_l 2.40))
    (angle_d_r (* angle_d_r 2.40))

Now the only thing I'd need to adjust is the steering resistance mid corner, while I really enjoy strong FFB I do get a very heavy resistance mid corner (at about 60-90° steering angle depending on corner and speed). So the grip level is very pronounced, but it's hard to overcome this resistance to add some extra steering angle, it almost feels like the wheel does not want me to add more steering angle. As an example I can hardly manage the hairpin in Long Beach because the mid corner resistance is too high and keeps pushing against my wheel.

Could someone please advise which values I need to modify to reduce this heavy resistance mid corner, or is it only a matter of further reducing the above two values?

    TM settings
    900°
    100% Gain
    0% Damper
    0% Linearity
    Performance Mode

    AMS2 settings
    62% gain
    0% LFB
    20% FX
    0% Damper

    Thank you
    Daniel

    Hello!
There are many ways to change it. But like I said, I won't go down that rabbit hole again. The files work great for many bases, but you have to find your own personal preferences

I didnt mess with the angle_d_l values you mentioned, but I did find mid corner weight a little strong at first, and not wanting to reduce base power because I like as much weight at lower speeds.

What I personally found was adjusting the following:

    (velocity_res_scale 0.65)

I've put that down to 0.57 and it seems to make less of a difference in weight at lower speed compared to mid corner speed, which is what you may be asking for?

Yes, ultimately personal preferences are always a criterion. Personally, I like it rather full and with resistance. But there are values that change the entire file and that's why I'll stay out of it. Your change has no disadvantages;)

Since it all seems to be some dark art, we have no choice but to experiment and adjust what we feel is best for our individual needs. I have a rib injury that prohibits me from having strong wheel forces, but I still want to feel the attachment to the road and everything that comes with it. With the v500 series I was able to find my personal ideal starting point, and experiment from there. The changes I make may or may not work as intended as I don't know the dark arts, but through experimentation I was able to find what I was looking for, be it right or wrong for others. I hope everyone finds their personal custom to fit their needs.

Thank you Daniel, this was not about asking for any modification on your end, I was just keen on advice from the community or the creator himself which values I need to look at to proceed with my own experiments :).

I will try the values recommended by @tk84 and @dryheat94 for now to see if this will help to suit my personal preference.

    What's new:
    • Some parameters adjustments, mainly loss of grip (was way too strong, by mistake)
    Still to improve/implement:
    • (no roadmap)

Well, black art isn't quite as mysterious as you wrote. So no black magic or witchcraft :eek:The feedback from all of you is very important to me and can give me new impulses and I am very grateful to you for that. So don't be upset or angry if I don't answer everything;)

So your saying this one would be the best for those using a simucube2 pro base as well?

    Hey guys,

Its' been a long while my rig has been down, but just have it up for a cpl. weeks & gave AMS2 a spin. Made a few edits to the original 5.0.1.3 to make it feel more to my liking these days, maybe somebody else will like it too, so posting here now.

Went for a slightly more realistic feel - no suspension sop when driving straight, for example, but some other details are then getting much more attention.

    Changes:
    * Damping slider to match AMS2 original more, so keep at at 50% for DD.
    * More center
    * Slightly more evenly distributed from slow/low downforce to fast/high downforce.
    * Faster centering, better for quite a few cars for me.
    * More feeling for driving on edge & gaining traction.
    * No suspension when driving straight, but instead more feeling on road features when driving through corners and down in crests. So more like Assetto Corsa in this regard.

It's an experimental, not 100% fine tuned, not sure it will ever be. Rig is going down soon again.
It's just what I seem to prefer right now.

Best for all & great to see all the mods are still going on here!

    Welcome Back old friend.
great to see you , unfortunately i can’t try this out as my rig is in process of major upgrades thanks to insurance after a bit of a mishap.
i will hope to be up and running by end of year.
sounds like very interesting file , and now naming my recent file update rFuktor Revival is a bit silly … because this is

    Hey Karsten!

Nice to hear from you. Thanks for your file very nice to drive and there are good things that I feel and there are not so good things that I feel.Of course I went different ways with your files but in the end there should be something for every taste.I'll be honest with you now, I don't want to follow Reiza's defaults because I don't like them (until now).If that happens, I will immediately turn around and switch to the defaults.Your files will certainly be used as a basis by many modders again, which is good.

It won't be my time anymore because I've already spent a lot of time on it and I've reached a final point (for me personally).Thank you again for your files and your work, which have been a lot of fun for me and continue to be:)

A cpl months ago I made a script to convert python to the custom ffb dialect, btw.
Didn't actually use it other than to see it works.
In case anybody wants it I'm happy to post it. Should make custom ffb life easier, since python can be debugged, stepped through etc. Also allows functions that will be expanded on transformation to custom ffb code.
