Very nice to see Karsten make an appearance again. I just gave the file a go and I quite like it. Tested with GTE, F-Ultimate Gen2 and Brazilian Stock Car. I have to say I had some oscillations on the straight in the F-Ultimate, the wheel would shake if let it go. Just wanted to give some feedback, I think it can always be of use.

 

Great to see you back, I look forward to trying your file. It’s a testament to your work that you can take a year+ old file, do a few adjustments, and it works great even after all the adjustments done to the game

Karsten, just keep your rig up because the gravitational sim racing forces have picked up again and you know you want to keep refining your experimental file.

 

I kind of hope some people will keep up their modding and/or more will want to, when it can be done in simpler to write and debug python...
But maybe that experimental needs to be polished as some other additional alternative too.. We'll see if it's worthy of polishing or if it gets hated on and easily dismissed

But my wife's bday will end the rigs life again, which is next week, I'm afraid...

 

I'm sure you know this better than me, but people keep posting their last and final file just to be posting another improved version a few days later. ^^ So I'm pretty sure people will keep hunting that theoretical perfect FFB file down for a while.

 

I think this should try to be avoided , more wider content testing and critical testing is a good way of avoiding over saturated uploads.

I think it would be really helpful if while @Karsten Hvidberg is around , if page one post could be cleaned up . maybe old files removed and perhaps it’s a good idea to link with your thread.

 

I tried your last version and couldn't get on with it. I see you had an error in it and thought I'd try your new version. Amazing. You've really done a great job on this file. I highly recommend everyone giving it a try.

I thought this thread was all about sharing and getting feedback...

I think the way I do it (put everything in the same post) avoids that. I can even delete older versions, so I wish to, without disturbing conversation.
I urge others to do the same.
Nobody is obliged to test or use posted files. Praise files/authors without even test the files, like you did, is not useful at all and creates a culture of personality instead of contemplating virtue.

Because someone (privately) put forward a doubt, I would like to make a note that my file requires setting up the system in a particular way (put torque limitation at wheelbase/driver level, because it's safer). Please, read my "original post" (the one in my signature).
Other files, from other creator/modders, have equivelent conditions like changing the GAIN changes not only the gain but the transfer curve itself, requiring also a particular way to setup the system. Either way is valid from a functional point of view, but they must be honoured to get the intended effect.

BTW, the reason I was contacted privately is exactly the because of this "praetorian guard" we see everytime someone says something they don't like, even if it doesn't harm anyone (like comparing feeling with other sims). Please, respect others oppinions and counteract with valid discussion arguments - we must change this culture of polarization in very topic of every area of human existance. Let's do our part here in a sim that we all love (or else we wouldn't be here, right? )

You could try 'my' DD1 profile. Its 99.5% Danielkarts V500 but with a few tweaks to suit me.

I think you misunderstood. I'm not judging, just describing. I hope people keep posting new versions of their files and what I was saying is, it looks like people will keep doing it, even if they announce their final file. I think it's funny and it shows the dedication and ambition and I hope it stays this way.

I do also think that you misunderstood Michael's comments. It can happen, I'm not a native speaker either.

 

Ricxx is a good boy and I know you didn't mean it that way. Physics and FFB divide people in sim racing. What is the best experience for one person is not useful for another. Getting involved with Personalized FFB and the Base is a good thing and you will always be one step ahead of people who don't do it. This is a Custom File thread and anyone should be allowed to post files. No matter when he wants to do it, how he wants to do it, how often he wants to do it. And this thread or these files don't sink into the mud no matter who they come from. As I said, I won't start over again, I'll just react to bigger changes if necessary. With this in mind, test a lot and exchange ideas with each other
